WHITE COMPOSITE FILLINGS

Small pockets of tooth decay can create cavities that affect the health and beauty of your smile. When these cavities need to be removed and filled, you want a material that will match your teeth and be undetectable when you smile. At Meridian Campus Family Dental, we offer white composite fillings that will protect your tooth’s exterior when a cavity is removed, yet look and feel just like your natural tooth.

Composite fillings are a cosmetic dentistry treatment that have been used for decades to repair teeth that have been exposed to decay. This hard and durable material is preferable for repairing front or anterior teeth as it can be colored to match your natural teeth. Although amalgam has been widely used to repair molars due to its superior strength for higher pressure areas, composite fillings have improved to offer similar durability in repairing cavities with a more appealing appearance.

WHAT IS A COMPOSITE RESIN?

Composite resins are created using certain types of plastic and glass or ceramic. Many of the white composite resins used today require a specialized light to harden the material quickly to create a durable filling. Spaces where decay has been removed are filled with a layer of composite resin that is hardened before additional layers are added. The composite resin reacts to the light by hardening quickly, creating a solid, durable surface. Once the space is filled, the area is smoothed to blend the filling with the rest of the tooth, making it almost impossible to differentiate the filling from the natural tooth surface.

At Meridian Campus Family Dental, we want to protect your oral health while giving you a beautiful smile that you can be proud to share with the world. If you need a cavity filled or want to replace old metal fillings with natural, white fillings, contact our office today and ask about our composite fillings for a beautiful, undetectable tooth repair.
