Dental implants are one of our most popular treatments for missing teeth. Whether you’re missing one tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants are a durable and semi-permanent procedure that can restore your ability to eat, talk, and smile naturally. With proper care, dental implants can last upwards of fifteen years. However, they do occasionally need to be restored or repaired. With dental implant restoration offered by Dr. Carpenter and our team, you can rest assured that your implants will serve you well for many, many years.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR DENTAL IMPLANTS ARE DAMAGED?
Just like your natural teeth, dental implants can be chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged. In fact, one of the most common culprits behind both chipped teeth and chipped dental implants is hard foods (like ice and hard candy) and opening packaging with your teeth (a big no-no!). Unlike your natural teeth, however, it can be harder to tell that you’ve chipped or cracked an implant because it does not have a nerve root to alert you to damage. The best way to ensure that your dental implants are in tip-top condition is to continue with your regular visits to our office, so our team can keep an eye on things!
HOW DO WE RESTORE DENTAL IMPLANTS?
Our approach for dental implant restoration depends on the extent of the damage to your dental implant. For a severe chip or crack, we may need to replace the crown on your implant. This involves removing the old crown, custom-creating a new crown that matches your natural teeth, and placing the new crown and checking for fit. But only after close examination can Dr. Carpenter determine the best way to restore your dental implants. So if you believe your dental implant is damaged, schedule an appointment here at Meridian Campus Family Dental.
